I hate it when Mommy and Daddy fight

I know that the Democrats are experts in losing elections they have every reason to win, and I have been expecting the worst this time around too.

But really, secretly, I've been hopeful. I watched the debate right before Super Tuesday, and I admired how smart Obama and Clinton were being -- consciously not attacking one another, repeatedly turning questions about their differences into criticisms of the Republicans instead. Maybe, just maybe the Dems can avoid their usual disintegration. Maybe they won't choke this time.

But the news today is about the behind-the-scenes battle over Super Delegates (do they get capes and skin-tight costumes?), and I fear that one or more egos will get in the way of what needs to be a team effort from here on out.

Look, Mom and Dad -- your kids need you to have a united front. Anything else just leaves us confused and disaffected. More importantly, it loses elections, and I think we can all agree that the stakes are much too high for that this year. For one, Justice Stevens can't live forever.
