Okay. So it's been tough getting a real discussion going on here. The feedback I've heard is all about time and commitment and minor intimidation: you come to this page, and you follow the links, and suddenly an hour has gone by, and you've got other things to do, so you never get a chance to write anything. Or you've felt daunted by the thoughtfulness of some of the posts and, as a result, actually submitting something of your own gives you pause.
That's what some people have told me. I'm hopeful that boredom is not another reason for the lack of participation, but fear that it may be.
For my part, I have been holding back from posting more in order to let other voices come forward. That's clearly not been working so well.
So here's my new tack: I'm going to try to post fairly often, and generally shorter pieces. My hope is that the multiplicity of topics will inspire more responses, and that the relative brevity of my own posts will encourage the same (and reduce the intimidation factor). Post your quick thoughts in the comments section or start a new topic, whichever is easier for you.
And if I am totally off-base on the reasons for folks not posting, please feel free to elaborate on your own reasons in the comments.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear from you soon.
